农业是国民经济的基础,农业的稳定和发展对我国这样一个农村人口占绝大多数的农业大国来说,不仅关系到十几亿人口的吃饭问题,而且关系到整个经济的发展和社会稳定。党中央历来重视农业的发展,党的十五大提出坚决把农业放在经济工作的首位,加强农业的基础地位。这无疑是正确的,是符合我国农业发展现状的。
Agriculture is the foundation of the national economy. The stability and development of agriculture have an important bearing on the development of our economy and social stability as it is for a big agricultural country like China, where the rural population is the overwhelming majority. The CPC Central Committee has always attached importance to the development of agriculture. The 15th CPC National Congress has put agriculture firmly in the first place of economic work and strengthened the basic position of agriculture. This is undoubtedly correct and in line with the current status of China’s agricultural development.
