古训云:“大上有立德,其次有立功,其次有立言。虽久不废,此之谓不朽。”所谓“立言”,就是发现能够造福社会的真理;“立功”,就是通过自己的行为改变社会现有的状态,为大多数人带来好处;“立德”,就是亲身实践自己发现的道德规范,成为一个影响他人和后世的楷模。中国当代经济学家中,能集立言、立功、立德于一身者寥寥,茅于轼当属其一。
The old saying goes: “there is a great virtue, followed by a meritorious service, followed by legislation. Although long time no waste, which means immortal.” The so-called “Li Yan” is found to benefit the community truth; “meritorious service” is through their own Behavior changes the existing state of the society and benefits most people. “Morality” is the embodiment of the moral code that we have discovered ourselves and a model that influences others and future generations. Among contemporary Chinese economists, Mao Yushi is one of a handful of people who can establish their own rhetoric, make their merits, and form a virtue.
