自80年代初到90年代初,在社会主义建设及其改革开放的整个过程中,邓小平同志针对我们实际工作中出现的不同偏颇,根据马克思主义的两点论,形象化地概括为“两手抓”。虽说各次讲话的具体内容不尽相同,但总括起来即是:一手抓物质文明建设,一手抓精神文明建设。同时还反复提醒我们:这两手都要硬,不能一手硬一手软。邓小平同志的“两手抓”思想应该成为我们各级领导干部在领导社会主义现代化建设和改革开放过程中一个极其重要的指导思想和领导方法、领导艺术。
From the early 1980s to the early 1990s, during the entire process of socialist construction and its reform and opening up, Comrade Deng Xiaoping vividly summarized “two hands” in accordance with the two-point theory of Marxism in view of the different biases that have emerged in our actual work. Although the specific contents of the speeches vary, they can be summed up as follows: building material civilization with one hand and building spiritual civilization with the other hand. At the same time also repeatedly reminded us: both hands should be hard, not a hard hand soft. Comrade Deng Xiaoping's thinking of “grasping two things with both hands” should become an extremely important guiding ideology and method of leadership and leading art of our leading cadres at all levels in leading the socialist modernization and reform and opening up.
