宝成铁路阳平关至成都段,起自阳平关,经陕西宁强,四川广元、江油、绵阳、德阳、广汉等县市至成都,长约400公里。这段线路已于1975年实行电气化,同时对会龙场越岭地段进行了落坡改造,取消了三机牵引。电气化以后,电力机车双机牵引2400吨,通客车10对,年货运量1200多万吨。由于经济的发展,目前的运能已达超饱和状态。为提高运能,振兴大西南经济,从1992年年底起,开始了双线建设。
