Objective To compare the levels of blood trace elements in patients with chronic Keshan disease and dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) by fluorescence and atomic absorption spectrometry. Methods 120 patients with chronic Keshan disease were selected as Keshan disease group. Sixty healthy subjects were selected as Ward health group. Forty-five dilated cardiomyopathy patients as DCM group and 45 healthy persons as non-ward health group . Blood was collected from all the subjects, and the blood levels of Cu, Cr, Zn, Se and Mn were measured by fluorescence and atomic absorption spectrometry. Results The levels of Zn, Se and Cr in Keshan disease group were significantly lower than those in non-disease area, healthy group and Cu level (P <0.05). The levels of Cu and Cr in Keshan disease group increased with the increase of cardiac function (P <0.05), and the level of Se showed a downward trend. The difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). Conclusion The levels of Zn, Se, Cr and Cu in blood of patients with chronic Keshan disease and dilated cardiomyopathy are in an imbalanced state of metabolism. Fluorescence and atomic absorption spectroscopy can observe the biological effects of related active substances in blood and analyze the mechanism of myocardial damage .
