出租汽车行业在本市的发展情况自改革开放以来,北京市的出租汽车行业逐步发展起来。尤其是90年代以后进入急剧膨胀阶段。根据1989至1999年的统计数据,出租汽车保有量以惊人的增长速度从14733辆一路攀升到66817辆。运营单位也从最早的首汽、北汽、京旅三家猛增至1008家,从业人员近9万,年客运量6.1亿人次。其中1993至1994年间“预交承包费”,变相转让经营指标之风盛行,使得车辆总量大规模增加。目前,全市已拥有出租汽车近7万辆,全年客运量占公交运量总数的12%以上。出租汽车行业的繁荣为广大市民和来京人员提供
