党中央根据新的形势和任务,在全党开 展以实践“三个代表”重要思想为主要内容的 保持共产党员先进性教育活动,对共产党员 的先进性提出了新的要求。胡锦涛同志在新 时期保持共产党员先进性专题报告会上的重 要讲话中,从坚定信念、提高本领、坚持宗旨、 勤奋工作、遵守纪律、改进作风六个方面,高 度概括了新时期共产党员保持先进性的基本 要求。各级党组织在开展党员先进性教育活 动中都根据这些要求,结合各地、各部门的实 际,提出了党员先进性的一些具体要求和标 准。但是,这些要求和标准对每个党员来说还 只是一种外在的规范,必须内化为党员的素 质,否则就失去了先进性的内在根基,也难以 达到先进性教育的目的和效果。
