The focus of global military strategy from west to east and the strategic focus of the Asia-Pacific military from north to south are the two most important trends accelerated by the Bush administration in its major readjustment of the U.S. military strategy. It is an inevitable outcome of the comprehensive strategic review of the United States in the 10 years since the end of the Cold War and an objective need of maintaining “one super” status in the 21st century. It marks a historic and significant change in the U.S. global military strategy after the Second World War . The strategic shift of the focus of the U.S. global military strategy will surely change the composition of the world geopolitics and its strategic forces. It will determine the trend of the world strategic pattern in the 21st century and will have a profound impact on the international and peripheral security situation facing China.
