Objective To understand the current college students employment psychology and sleep conditions, analyze the correlation between the two, and provide the basis for carrying out targeted employment psychological guidance. Methods A total of 348 undergraduates of preventive medicine in a medical university in Guangzhou were investigated. The self-made questionnaire and Pittsburgh sleep quality questionnaire were used to investigate the employment psychology and quality of sleep. Results 330 valid questionnaires were collected, the effective recovery rate was 94.8%. Of the 330 undergraduates surveyed, 278 (84.2%) were concerned that they could not find a suitable job and 266 (80.6%) were concerned that their job did not meet their family’s expectations. Boys have greater home stress (P = 0.027) and financial stress than girls (P = 0.000). Among the 52 graduating students, only 7.7% of students find jobs before graduation, and 20.3% of them have poor sleep. Among graduating students, there was a significant correlation between job stress and sleep quality (P = 0.033). Conclusion At present, the employment situation of undergraduates is very serious. The prevalence of employment pressure leads to the drop of students’ sleep quality. The college educators should actively implement relevant interventions.
