江泽民同志在庆祝中国共产党成立80周年大会上的讲话,系统论述了代表中国先进文化的前进方向在“三个代表”思想体系中的重要地位和对我们党所领导的各项事业的极端重要性,指出:“社会主义社会是全面发展、全面进步的社会。社会主义现代化事业是物质文明和精神文明相辅相成、协调发展的事业。”强调在加强物质文明建设的同时,必须大力加强精神文明建设。这一指示,对于兵团在新的世纪加强思想道德文化建设,全面推进屯垦戍边事业具有极其重要的指导意义。江泽民同志1998年7月视察新疆和兵团时,希望兵团在新的历史时期成为新疆生产建设的模范、安定团结的模范、民族团结的模范、稳定新疆和巩固祖国边防的模范,更好地担负起屯垦戍边的历史使命。这需要兵团在推进物质文明建设的同时,还要将兵团精神文明建设推向新的高峰。认真贯彻江泽民同志“七一”重要讲话精神,增强加快兵团文化发展的紧迫感和使命感,忠实代表中国先进文化的前进方向,大力推进兵团先进文化的建设,是我们面临的重要任务。
