吴昌硕一生致力于《石鼓文》,临创作品自成面貌,其金文也成就斐然,但相较于《石鼓》却数量稀少。对比其早年与晚年的《石鼓》临作,结体和章法上除了取法金文之外,还融入篆刻造型,在笔法上变化颇丰。不可否认这与吴昌硕有意识侧重于对《石鼓》的创作有关,但也与同吴大澂的交谊以及书画市场对作品风格的需求不无关系。
