A survey of 146,000 people from 1992 to 2009 by the American Cancer Society found that the odds of having cancer were 10% higher than those who did not love television. A similar study conducted by the University of Regensburg in Germany found that sitting more than two hours a day on television would increase the risk of colon cancer by 8% and the risk of uterine cancer by 10%. A decade-long study of more than 10,000 participants at the Institute of Epidemiology at the Medical Research Institute found that watching 1-hour television increased the risk of death from heart disease by 7%
