结构光性矿物学是矿物学的一个新分支,它的任务是研究矿物(主要的透明矿物)的光学性质与其化学成份和晶体结构之间的关系。早在本世纪二十年代初期,著名的科学家尼格里就预言:“总有一天,人们能够从晶体的化学成分和结构计算出晶体的光学性质来,这是一项基础性的工作,很有意义。希望物理学家、化学家和矿物学家来个竞赛,看准先解决这个问题”。尼格里的预言算不算矿物学中的“歌德巴赫猜想”呢?我们姑且不论,但是可以肯定,这是一个十分棘手的问题。六十多
