In 2011, the global metal industry’s M & A activity continued to show a more active picture. The transaction volume of M & A increased sharply over the previous year, and the amount of completed M & A transactions increased from 26.1 billion U.S. dollars in 2010 to 40.7 billion U.S. dollars in 2011, up by as much as 56% at the same time, increase by 170% compared with 15,100 million dollars in 2009. In addition, the amount of unfinished M & A transactions also continued to grow. Currently, all eyes are on the sovereign debt crisis in the euro zone, the pace of economic recovery in North America and the real estate and construction industry in China. In particular, it is feared that the latter two factors may have a negative impact on the M & A integration of the global metal industry. If the confidence can be regained, the global metal industry’s 2012 M & A is still expected to maintain the level of the previous year.
