To observe the relationship between nitric oxide and low - density lipoprotein oxidation, to reveal the role of nitric oxide in the pathogenesis and prevention of atherosclerosis. The mice were injected intraperitoneally with polysaccharides of Coriolus versicolor, treated with interferon - γ, lipopolysaccharide and L - Arginine stimulated mouse peritoneal macrophages, and then measured nitric oxide release and lipid hydroperoxide concentration. The results showed that there was a quantitative correlation between NO and LDL (r = 0.753, P <0.05), and within a certain range (≤50 μmol / L) of nitric oxide The amount of release was negatively correlated with the amount of lipid hydroperoxide, ie, the inhibition of cell oxidation of low density lipoproteins; the amount of lipid hydroperoxide increased with an excess of nitric oxide (≥ 90 μmol / L) , Then promote the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein. The results suggest that nitric oxide plays a dual role in LDL oxidation, and its inhibition or promotion of the LDL oxidation depends on its release.
