According to a report by Chinese entrepreneur Net on Oct. 9, Baidu and Peixe Urbano, Brazil’s largest group buy site, issued a joint statement saying Baidu had acquired the controlling stake in Peixe but did not disclose the transaction price and shareholding ratio. According to Brazilian local media reports, the two companies started negotiations on the acquisition of the transaction in August this year. Under the terms of the deal, Baidu will allow Peixe Urbano’s existing management team to operate independently within Baidu’s corporate structure. Founded in 2010, Peixe has more than 200,000 customers in Brazil and more than 30,000 partner companies.
