Whether it admits or not, China’s audiovisual sector has been divided into two camps: one is the CVD coalition formed by Idodo, Malata, Changhong, Amoi, and Xiste. Recently, 15 VCD producers and several audiovisual products in this camp have been organized. Publishers, C-CUBE of the United States and Philips of the Netherlands held a press conference in Shanghai to jointly launch a CVD product called as a substitute for VCD; the other party was a VCD and DVD consortium consisting of Shinco, Panda, Hualu and Konka.
