If humankind wants to rapidly reduce global carbon emissions to prevent catastrophic climate change and reduce HFC emissions, it may be the most sensible first step. In October 2016, the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was signed. Of signatories will gather in Rwanda’s capital Kigali to consider an amendment to the agreement to gradually reduce and eventually eliminate the use of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). HFCs are now one of six major greenhouse gases that are commonly used in air conditioning and refrigeration systems around the world. This amendment is undoubtedly the gospel of sustainable development and can prevent up to 1,000 tons -2000 by 2050
