2011版的高中英语新课标要求学生的课外阅读量应累积达到30万词以上,但现状是大部分的学生阅读量偏少,且没有养成良好的阅读习惯。作者认为,要突破阅读难关,就必须从词汇入手,一方面扩大词汇量,另一方面猜测生词词义,在语境中理解一词多义,并在阅读练习中对词汇加以巩固,从而达到提高阅读能力的目的。
