2003 Nobel Prize laureate, South African writer Coetzee, according to legend is a lonely person. He hated the spotlight life, for all receptions, ceremonies - as long as there is a red carpet are avoided. When the former Booker Prize was awarded to him, he actually refused to attend the presentation. But this time he boarded the podium in Stockholm, and delivered an award-winning speech. What made me feel even more touching was his thank-you note at dinner, a childlike speech in memory of her mother in public. This reminds me of the remarks many years ago when the old writer Ke Ling accepted the Shanghai Literature and Art Awards. On that day, the gray-haired old man talked about her mother on the solemn podium, and her psychology was back Own childhood This is the best feeling. This issue of the album tries hard to embody the other side of Coetzee’s creation: the profound cognition and enlightenment on the “dark” consciousness. Our choice of Coetzee’s essay hopes to reflect the writer’s thinking in many ways, thereby highlighting what we call him the “conscience of South Africa.” - Editor’s Note -
