In this study, 35 New Zealand-born patients were randomly divided into 4 groups: NS, IL-1β, IL-1β + α-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α -MSH) and α-MSH on the colonic temperature and the content of arginine vasopressin (AVP) in the ventral septum of rabbits. The results showed that the injection of α-MSH into the lateral ventricle of normal rabbits caused a significant increase of AVP content in the ventral septum but did not affect the colonic temperature in rabbits.
