Objective To investigate the role of endothelin (ET) in the acute phase of experimental intracerebral hemorrhage in rats and its mechanism of action. Methods The rat model of intracerebral hemorrhage was established. The content of ET in the acute phase was determined by chromatographic column. The morphological changes of the brain tissue were observed. Results The difference between the experimental group and the control group was significant at 4 hours (P <0.05), and at 12 and 7 days (P <0.01) (P <0.001). Compared with 12-hour group, ET content was the highest in the group and then gradually decreased. At this time, the damage of neurons in brain tissue was the most serious. Conclusion ET may be involved in the pathological changes of brain tissue hemorrhage Physiological evolution is a new relevant factor.
