The Quebrada Blanca copper mine is an open-pit copper mine under construction, located in the Chilean Andes at an elevation of 4,200m. The deposit is a world-class money-rich porphyry copper deposit with recoverable reserves of 89 million tons and a copper grade of 1.3%. Annual mining capacity will be 6.3 million tons of ore, mining period of 15 years. Each year can produce 750,000 t cathode copper. This article reviews engineering geology, computer simulations of mineral deposits, mine planning and deposit plans. This paper discusses the production of copper produced by electrowinning in mines, as well as the technological process and schedule for optimizing the normal production of mines. Also discussed some of the difficulties of rear service, equipment, personnel and process when operating mines above 4200m above sea level.
