中国不断富裕起来,再过不久,每个人就都将有能力拥有一辆轿车、一间房子及到海边去度假了。在这个时候,中国人会做什么呢?“文化大革命”结束了,中国实践了最成功的自由开放经济。中国的艺术家在1989年之后,透过他们的艺术作品,得到了令人印象深刻的财富。1963年出生的方力钧就是透过创作,反思出他自己在历史中的定位。在方力钧刚开始从事绘画创作的时代,当时的艺术题材,若没有标榜共产党,是不太能想象的。方力钧曾在一场会谈中提及:
