Proverbs are short, concise languages that have rich cultural characteristics. The proverb in the source language can be widely accepted by the source language reader, and the source reader can grasp the implication of the proverb in the absence of a specific context. However, when intercultural communication, people from other nations find it difficult to understand their implications without specific contexts. Therefore, translators, source texts, and target text readers should always consider Grice’s theory of conversational meanings and use the proper methods to effectively convey the implication of the proverb and adopt It can be expressed in a language accepted by the target audience so that translated “communicative” activities can be carried out smoothly.
