近十年来,在通信领域中出现了一种极为引人注目的新的通信方式——光纤通信。它是激光通信的一种,与载波通信的主要不同之处是:载波通信是用电波作载波,在金属导线里传输信息;而光纤通信是用光波作载波,在光导纤维里传输信息。光导纤维,简称光纤,它是一种透明的,具有特殊光学性能的,象头发丝那样细的玻璃纤维。 光纤通信具有容量大、抗干扰性强、衰耗小等特点,是一种适用范围很广的,很有发展前途的信息传输系统。特别是光导纤维的主材SiO_2具有良好的绝缘性能,在超高压大电流的强烈电磁场下,信息传输不受干扰。因此它的这种特点应用于电力系统就更加显著,是电力系统的一种崭新的通信方式。
In the past decade, a very attractive new communication method-optical fiber communication-emerged in the field of communication.
