在中国人民革命达到基本的成功之后,也就是人民解放战争取得基本上的胜利之后,许多朋友谈起陶行知先生的主张和生活教育理论方面的问题,就是陶先生的主张在解放后的新中国究竟起着什么样的作用?生活教育的理论适合新中国的需要么?这一问题的提出是有它客观现实的根据的。因为他们认为陶先生的教育主张在旧中国反封建、反独裁、反殖民地化的斗争过程中曾经起着革命的作用,唤醒教育工作者在反动统治的环境中用教育这一武器参加斗争。他们认为生活教育的理论和方法是适合当时的环境,对当时以反动的政治和垄断的经济作为基础的教育作毫不容情的斗争,破坏了旧的也建设了新的。但是,今天的新中国,劳动人民已打倒了反动统治,作为教育的重要的基础的政治
