The gas nitriding with a shortened time can be carried out in a mixed atmosphere of ammonia and a carbon-containing gas, or in a mixed atmosphere of ammonia and nitrogen, ammonia and oxygen. By ionization, glow discharge or magnetic field can speed up the gas nitriding. This research will establish such a significant achievement that the use of a low-intensity (25-30 oersted) magnetic field and an industrial frequency of 50 Hz of excitation current is sufficient to accelerate the nitridation process. This eliminates one of the major disadvantages of gas nitriding - the brittleness of the nitride layer. This method requires little additional cost because it can take advantage of the current at industrial frequencies and adapt a mass production of equipment to a slightly modified version.
