本研究采用课堂观察、录音、问卷调查和追溯式访谈,对40名大学英语教师的课堂语码转换行为进行分析,探讨大学英语课堂里教师语码转换的功能和进行语码转换的原因。结果显示:大学英语课堂教师语码转换普遍存在,转换频率较高,教师借助语码转换实现教学功能,尤其用于翻译、检测学生理解、处理练习和实现元语言功能,语码转换是教师采用的一种教学策略。教师语码转换的原因主要涉及帮助学生理解、强调重点内容、评价学生表现等。教师语码转换存在一定主观性和随意性。基于研究结果,笔者建议教师反思并改进自身课堂语码转换行为以促进教学。
In this study, 40 college English teachers’ classroom code-switching behaviors were analyzed through classroom observation, recording, questionnaire and retrospective interviewing to explore the function of the teacher’s code-switching and the reason of the code-switching in the college English classroom. The results show that college English teachers ’code-switching generally exists and their conversion frequency is high. Teachers use the code-switching to realize the teaching function, especially for translating and detecting students’ understanding, processing practice and realizing the meta-language function. A kind of teaching strategy. The reasons for the teacher code conversion mainly involve helping students to understand, emphasize the key content, evaluate students’ performance and so on. There is some subjectivity and arbitrariness in teacher code conversion. Based on the research results, the author suggests that teachers should reflect on and improve their classroom code-switching behaviors to promote teaching.
