今年5月,上海开展了两项评选活动:十大城市新景观评选和重点建设科技明星评选。结果是:“东方明珠”广播电视塔最为引人注目,位居“十大城市新景观”第一;“东方明珠”设计总负责人、华东建筑设计研究院总工程师江欢成名列“十大科技明星”榜首。 5月中旬,笔者迎着高矗入云的“东方明珠”来到上海市汉口路51号,访问了江欢成。 1989年初春,上海市委、市政府决定在浦东陆家嘴造一座与上海的国际地位和发展远景相称的广播电视塔。消息传出,上海有实力的一些建筑设计单位都跃跃欲试,享有盛誉的华东建筑设计研究院也成立了电视塔投标小组,江欢成是设计总负责人。他提出了这样的口号:树上海腾飞标志,创世界建筑丰碑。全院人员广泛收集各国著名电视塔的资料和图片作参考,精心设计出30多个方案,再从中归纳成5个方案(包括取名“东方明珠”的方案)参加投标。来自全国的50多位专家、学者,对12个送审方案认真评议了3天。大家一致称赞“东方明珠”方案造型新颖独特,结构不同凡响。当时任上海市委书记的江泽民同志高兴地称之为LAND MARK(标志),拍板定案。
In May of this year, Shanghai conducted two selection activities: the selection of new landscapes in ten major cities and the selection of key scientific and technological stars. As a result, “Oriental Pearl TV Tower” was the most notable one among the “Top Ten New Landscape Cities”; the chief design chief of Oriental Pearl Tower and the chief engineer of East China Institute of Architectural Design Jiang Huancheng ranked among the “Top Ten Technology Stars” Top of the list. In mid-May, the author came to the Hankou Road 51 in Shanghai to greet Jiang Huancheng. In the spring of 1989, Shanghai municipal party committee and municipal government decided to build a broadcasting tower in Lujiazui, Pudong, commensurate with Shanghai’s international status and development prospects. It is reported that some of the strength of Shanghai’s architectural design units are eager, the prestigious East China Institute of Architectural Design has also set up a television tower bidding team, Jiang Huancheng is the total design director. He proposed such a slogan: Tree takeoff logo, a monument to the world’s building. The hospital staff extensively collect the information and pictures of famous television tower in various countries for reference, elaborately designed more than 30 programs, and then summarized into five programs (including the program named “Pearl of the Orient”) to participate in the bidding. Over 50 experts and scholars from all over the country seriously appraised the 12 submission proposals for three days. We all unanimously praised the “Oriental Pearl” program novel and unique structure extraordinary. At that time, Comrade Jiang Zemin, then party secretary of Shanghai, was happily calling it LAND MARK.
