The flight plan for composite parts is being implemented on both Lockheed aircraft L-1011 and C-130. A group of Kevlar 49 epoxy shrouds are now flying on three L-1011s and no major use problems have been found after 10,000 hours of flight. Reinforced aluminum skin and hat stiffeners on the central wing box with pre-cured, boron-bonded epoxy on three C-130s. After more than 4,000 hours of flights in three years, these parts continue to be used satisfactorily. Another flight component on the L-1011 was a graphite-epoxy floor pillars, and after 10,000 flying hours no problems or defects were found. The use of these parts of the flight proved: They have good reliability of use.
