In March 2004, the Party Political Research Center of the Party History Research Center of the CPC Central Committee held the “NATO Warsaw Pact Parallel History Project”, the Wilson Scholarship Center International Cold War History Project and the George Washington University Cold War Project jointly organized the “60s-80s China Historical Review of Relations with Eastern European Countries ”International Symposium. The meeting invited seven former Chinese ambassadors in Eastern European countries to attend. These ambassadors have long studied and worked in the host country and personally experienced many major historical events and political changes there. They have a comprehensive and profound understanding of the communist party’s governing history and governing experience in Eastern European countries. This is a very precious party research resource. After the meeting, the Political Research Center for Political Parties decided to further interview the ambassadors with a view to gaining more insight from them. On September 17, the delegation of three visited the former ambassador to Hungary and Mr. Zhu Ankang, the former director of the Eastern Division of the Eastern Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The interview lasted about two hours. Ambassador Zhu’s speech is very in-depth and brilliant. It is worth reading.
