党的十一届三中全会决定，从今年开始全国工作的着重点转移到社会主义现代化建设上来。为了适应这个历史性的转变，我们必须严格按照社会主义经济规律办事，在分配领域中，必须坚决贯彻按劳分配的原则。“四人帮”长期以来大肆煽动平均主义思潮，把平均主义冒充为共产主义，把社会主义诬蔑为资本主义。搞乱了马列主义、毛泽东思想早已解决了的一些基本原理，在人们的思想上造成了极大的混乱，严重挫伤了广大群众的社会主义积极性，阻碍了社会生产力的发展。因此，当前从理论上划清平均主义与共产主义的界限，肃清“四人帮”的流毒和影响，对于坚持贯彻按劳分配原则，自觉按客观经济规律办事，加速实现四个现代化，具有重要的现实意义。
The Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decided that the focus of its work in the entire country should be shifted from this year to the socialist modernization drive. In order to adapt to this historic transformation, we must act strictly in accordance with the socialist economic laws. In the field of distribution, we must resolutely implement the principle of distribution according to work. The “gang of four” have long been wantonly inciting an egalitarian trend of thought, using egalitarianism as communism and slandering socialism as capitalism. The fundamental principles that have confused Marxism-Leninism with Mao Zedong Thought and already solved it have caused great confusion in people's minds, seriously dampening the socialist enthusiasm of the masses and hindering the development of social productive forces. Therefore, it is of great theoretical significance to draw a line between egalitarianism and communism and eliminate the poisonous influence of the “gang of four.” It is an important reality that we should persistently carry out the principle of distribution according to work, act conscientiously according to objective economic laws and accelerate the realization of the four modernizations significance.
