Iatrogenic hypoglycemia is a major limiting factor in the strict glycemic management of patients with diabetes. Concerns about hypoglycaemia in diabetic patients can prevent the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels and the effective realization of blood vessel benefits due to the effective control of blood glucose. Hypoglycaemic events impair the defensive response to subsequent decreases in blood glucose levels, thereby causing a vicious circle of repeated hypoglycemic episodes.
