OBJECTIVE: To compare the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-3 (MMP-3) and gingival crevicular fluid in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, patients with periodontal disease and healthy controls and the levels of MMP-3 and gingival crevicular fluid in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus Metabolic status of the relationship. Methods: The paper strip method was used to collect GCF, type 2 diabetes mellitus, periodontal disease patients and general health of 30 cases; enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) determination of the content of MMP-3 in gingival crevicular fluid; Liquid chromatography was used to determine the level of HbA1c in type 2 diabetic patients. Results: The amount of gingival crevicular fluid in diabetic group and periodontal group was significantly higher than that in normal control group (P <0.01). The amount of gingival crevicular fluid in diabetic group was significantly higher than that in periodontal disease group (P <0.01). The content of MMP-3 in gingival crevicular fluid of periodontal disease group was significantly higher than that of normal control group (P <0.01), there was no significant difference in the content of MMP-3 in gingival crevicular fluid between diabetic group and normal control group (P> 0.01 ). There was no significant linear correlation between MMP-3 level and HbA1c level in gingival crevicular fluid between diabetic patients with periodontal disease. Conclusion: MMP-3 in gingival crevicular fluid is not a single information analysis and single inhibitor of a simple role, but the result of the combination of multiple factors, it needs further study.
