In 1911, Giotto Canudo first proposed “The Art of Cinema” in a famous treatise entitled “The Seventh Art Declaration,” in which he considered the film an integrated form of art, Architecture, music, painting, sculpture, literature, dance and other art forms in one, calling it “the seventh art.” This view was widely accepted by the film industry and academia, and since then “Seventh Art” has become synonymous with the film.
