全球化的进程使得跨文化交际日益成为众多世人所面临的现实。而在这一过程中,英语充当着国际通用语,并对传统的英语外语教学范式提出了挑战。单纯的英语熟练程度和对英语本族语者文化知识的了解已不足以保证英语学习者能够获得必要的跨文化交际能力,因而也不能使其并在使用英语时超越文化界限,并通过对意义、人际关系和文化身份的建构和协商,与来自不同文化背景的人有效沟通。作者认为迎接全球化时代跨文化交际现实的挑战,英语教学应该定位为跨文化教育,教学的轴心应该转向对学习者跨文化交际能力的培养。作者首先讨论和界定了跨文化教育和跨文化交际能力,进而论证了英语在跨文化教育方面的优势,并提出英语教学应该是跨文化交际教学的理念。作者还提出了实践跨文化英语教学的基本原则。
The process of globalization makes cross-cultural communication increasingly the reality that many people face. In this process, English serves as an international lingua franca and challenges the traditional paradigm of foreign language teaching. Simple English proficiency and understanding of the cultural knowledge of native speakers of English is not enough to ensure that English learners have access to the necessary intercultural communicative competence and thus can not exceed and exceed the cultural boundaries when using English, , Building and negotiating interpersonal and cultural identities, and effectively communicating with people from different cultural backgrounds. The author believes that to meet the challenge of the reality of cross-cultural communication in the era of globalization, English teaching should be positioned as an intercultural education. The axis of teaching should be shifted to the cultivation of learners’ intercultural communicative competence. The author first discusses and defines intercultural education and intercultural communication skills, and then proves the advantages of English in intercultural education. It also proposes that English teaching should be an intercultural communication teaching concept. The author also put forward the basic principle of practicing cross-cultural English teaching.
