Current direct display of coronary artery wall and plaque is one of the hot spots in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) research because atherosclerotic plaques, which do not cause more than 50% stenosis in coronary lumens, are often ruptures Of vulnerable plaque, plaque rupture followed by thrombosis is the main cause of myocardial infarction. Noninvasive, high-resolution MRI has the potential to show atherosclerotic plaque and to determine plaque components. This review summarizes the principle of coronary artery plaque MR imaging, describes the signal characteristics of the plaque under the existing MRI technique, and discusses the research progress of MR in new contrast agents and targeted molecular imaging of plaque imaging.
