众所周知,传统的路由器担负着转发IP包、维护更新的路由表、建立广域网连接维护网络安全等许多工作。在Internet/Intranet飞速发展的今天,这种传统的工作方式已远远无法适应广大用户对于网络响应速度的要求。因此迫切需要有一种新人网络模式,来适应当今的应用。Bay Networks面对这种挑战,提出了一个新的网络模式,即将网络中的路由功能和转发功能分解开,将这两个功能从传统的路由器中分离出来,分别用硬件加以实现,用第二层的交换速度,实现第三层的路由功能,来解决当今网络中路由器的瓶颈问题。
As we all know, the traditional router is responsible for forwarding IP packets, maintaining updated routing tables, establishing WAN connections and maintaining network security. In the rapid development of Internet / Intranet today, this traditional way of working has been far unable to adapt to the majority of users for the network response speed requirements. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a new network model to adapt to today’s applications. In response to this challenge, Bay Networks proposed a new network model that breaks down the routing and forwarding functions in the network and separates these two functions from the traditional routers and implements them in hardware. The exchange rate of the second floor, realize the routing function of the third floor, in order to solve the bottleneck problem of the router in the network nowadays.
