目前,上海生产的76公厘小口径无缝钢管生产过程如下: 先把管坯加热到1150—1220℃,然后送到穿孔机上穿孔。穿孔机上有两个表面带有斜度的桶形大轧辊,在大轧辊前面有个穿孔的顶头。当管坯进入大轧辊后,即开始自转,同时也横向地向前移动,而顶头安装在管坯出口的中心。这样就把管坯穿成无缝钢管的毛管。这些毛管,经过冷拔工序,就能制成各种规格的无缝钢管。生产无缝钢管的主要设备、生产过程和生产经验如下:
