生长率是说明树木生长过程中某一期间的相对速度,常用它比较不同树种在不同条件下的生长快慢和预估它们未来的生长量。各种调查因子的生长率,特别是材积生长率,在实际工作中应用很大,但除直径生长率外其它所有调查因子的生长率都很难直接测算。因此探讨直径与材积生长率之间的关系,无论在理论上,还是在生产实践中都是十分必要的。现行计算生长率的各种公式和方法,需要测出期初和期末的材积,或测出直径生长量、树高,有的还要测出树冠长度和占树高的百分比,再查辅助表进行计算,在生产实践中应用
