一、引言全球各大门户城市都有移民区或少数民族飞地。比如,纽约的“小意大利”、旧金山的“唐人街”、巴黎的“小亚洲”以及伦敦索萨尔百老汇的“小印度”。我们很容易把亚裔、拉丁裔和非裔美国人的聚居区想象为具有特殊的“民族气息”的文化景点,但同时也会把它们想象成具有自身的影子经济、文化和法律的边缘化社区。它们曾一度既充满诱惑又被人剥夺。一个很好的实例就是在全球扩散的唐人街。唐人街曾经迎合了关于中国佬约翰的地盘的想象~(1)——充斥着犯罪和血汗工厂的地方,但是现在这里变成了城市中的旅游
I. INTRODUCTION There are resettlement areas or minority enclaves in major gateway cities in the world. For example, Little Italy in New York, Chinatown in San Francisco, Little Asia in Paris and Little India at Broadway in Southall, London. We can easily imagine the enclaves of Asians, Latino and African-Americans as cultural spots with a special “ethnic flavor” but at the same time imagine them as having their own shadowy economy, culture and law Marginalized community. For a time they were both tempting and deprived. A good example is the proliferation of Chinatown around the world. Chinatown once catered for the location of Chinese Yankee John - (1) - a place full of crime and sweatshops, but now it has become a city of tourism
