Beth had a wobbly tooth. It had wobbled and wobbled for weeks. One day, Beth bit into a big red apple. Her wobbly tooth came out.
贝丝有一颗松动的牙齿。它已经摇动好几个星期了。一天，贝丝正在啃一个大红苹果，结果松动的牙齿一下掉了。
“Wow!” said Beth. “Now the tooth fairy will come, and I will get a coin.”
“噢——”贝丝叫道，“现在牙齿仙子要来啦，我会得到一枚硬币。”
At bedtime, Beth put the tooth under her pillow and went to sleep.
晚上上床的时候，贝丝把那颗牙齿放在枕头下面，然后睡着了。
The next morning, Beth looked under her pillow. The tooth was gone and in its place, there was a shiny coin.
第二天早晨，贝丝一看枕头下面——牙齿真的不见了，就在放牙齿的地方，有一枚闪亮的硬币。
“I’ve got a cion!” said Beth. “The tooth fairy gave me a coin!”
“我得到了一枚硬币！”贝丝说，“牙齿仙子给了我一枚硬币！”
“I want a coin, too.” said Tim.
“我也想要一枚硬币。”（弟弟）蒂姆说。
“Your teeth aren’t wobbly yet.” said Mum.
“你的牙齿还没松动呢。”妈妈说。
All day, Tim pushed and pulled his teeth, but not one tooth was wobbly.
一整天，蒂姆把牙齿又是推又是拔，但还是没有一颗松动。
Tim had an idea.
蒂姆想出一个办法。
He got out his modeling clay and made a toy tooth.
他拿出自己的橡皮泥，做了一颗玩具牙齿。
“I’ll put this under my pillow. ” he said. “Then the tooth fairy will come and give me a coin.”
“我把它放在我的枕头下面。”他说，“这样一来牙齿仙子就会来给我硬币了。”
“The tooth fairy only takes real teeth.” said Beth. “She won’t give you a coin for a toy tooth.”
“Yes, she will.” said Tim.
“牙齿仙子只要真的牙齿。”贝丝说，“她不会因为一颗玩具牙齿给你一枚硬币的。”
“不，她会给我的。”蒂姆坚持道。
At bedtime, Tim put the toy tooth under his pillow. He went to sleep and dreamed about the tooth fairy.
上床时间到了，蒂姆把玩具牙齿放在自己的枕头下。他很快睡着了，还梦见了牙齿仙子呢。
Beth couldn’t sleep. She knew the tooth fairy wouldn’t come and Tim would be upset in the morning.
但是贝丝睡不着。她知道牙齿仙子不会来的。那样的话蒂姆明天早晨一定会很伤心。
Beth went downstairs to see Mum. She told Mum about the toy tooth.
贝丝来到楼下找妈妈。她把玩具牙齿的事情告诉了妈妈。
“The tooth fairy won’t come, will she, Mum?” said Beth.
“牙齿仙子不会来的，对吗，妈妈？”贝丝问。
“Let’s wait and see.” said Mum.
“让我们等着看看吧。”妈妈说。
The next morning, Tim jumped on Beth’s bed.
第二天一早，蒂姆就跳上贝丝的床。
“Beth! Look! I got a coin! The tooth fairy did come! ” he said.
“贝丝，你看！我得到了一枚硬币！牙齿仙子来过了！”他叫道。
“Let me see.” said Beth. Beth looked at the coin. It wasn’t a real coin, it was a toy coin, but she didn’t tell Tim that.
“让我看看。”贝丝说。贝丝看了看那枚硬币。它不是真的硬币，而是一枚玩具硬币，但她没告诉蒂姆真相。
Tim ran to Mum. “Mum! Mum! I got a coin from the tooth fairy.” he said. “I want to go to the shop now. ”
蒂姆跑去找妈妈。“妈妈！妈妈！我从牙齿仙子那里得到了一枚硬币。”他说，“我现在想去商店（买东西）。”
“You can’t go to the shop with that coin.” said Mum. “You see, it’s a toy coin. You gave the tooth fairy a toy tooth, so she gave you a toy coin.”
“你不能拿它去商店。”妈妈说，“你看，它只是一枚玩具硬币。你给了牙齿仙子一颗玩具牙齿，所以她也给了你一枚玩具硬币。”
Tim looked sad. Then Beth had an idea. “You can come to my shop.” she said. “What would you like to buy?”“I’d like a big red apple, please.” said Tim. “To make my real tooth come out.”
蒂姆看起来很伤心。于是，贝丝有了一个主意。“你可以到我的商店里来。”她说，“你想买什么？”“我想买一个大红苹果，”蒂姆说，“用它来把一颗真牙齿弄下来。”
亲爱的朋友们，还记得你们刚上小学时换牙齿的情形吗？我国很多地方有这样一个习俗：换牙时，下面牙齿掉了，要往高处的屋顶上扔；上面的牙齿掉了，要往低的地方扔，这样新牙齿才会快快长出来。你这样做过吗？很有趣噢。
