The newly designed Electro-Motive Division, a two-stroke DC scavenged turbo diesel engine from the General Motors Company in the United States, the 710 G Series diesel engine will soon be fully operational. The 710G series has a bore of 230.2mm and a stroke of 279.4mm, which increases cylinder displacement over its predecessor, the 645 Series. 710G series of diesel engines will have 8,12,16,20 cylinder machine, can be widely used in railway locomotives, industrial power plants, ship propulsion and oil drilling. This article describes the evolution from the 645 series to the 710G series, specifying the design differences between the two families, including their performance and structural differences. The 710 series features a highly efficient new turbocharger and a newly designed GM pump nozzle. Both have increased the fuel economy of this new line of diesel engines and expanded the output power range.
