我国发行的月季花特种邮票是继菊花、牡丹、药用植物、山茶花和荷花之后的又一套花卉邮票。这套邮票构图的特色是“花叶相映,主宾相衬”,特别突出了绿叶的衬托作用。以“上海之春”、“青凤”、“浦江朝霞”等为例,花只占整个图面的1/3,其余2/3的画面是层次叠现的绿叶。一簇簇的绿叶,真实地反映了春的到来和朝霞的色彩。这六枚邮票中,有三枚是上海淮海中学周圣希老先生培育的月季新品种。周先生经过几年努力,先后育成了“上海之春”、“珍珠”、“青凤”等品种。其中“青凤”
