Objective: To study the characteristics of the equivalent current dipole (ECD) intensity of somatosensory evoked field in magnetoencephalography (MEG) patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods: Fifteen patients with acute cerebral infarction were tested for somatosensory magnetic field (SEFS) 3 to 4 weeks after onset. Sixteen healthy volunteers were also used as controls. The site of electrical stimulation is the median nerve of the wrist. The current pulse width is 0.3ms and the stimulation interval is 0.5s. The SEFS peak is evaluated by the ECD. Results: The most basic waveform of SEFs in all subjects was M20, and the intensity of ipsilateral ECD in patients with acute cerebral infarction was decreased (P <0.01). Conclusion: MEG can sensitively detect central nervous system dysfunction in patients with acute cerebral infarction.
