2014年3月中旬,一则新闻突然开始在媒体网络上流传:流失海外近一个世纪的文物——皿方罍,即将回到它的故乡湖南,与它的器盖合二为一。这件被拆散了近100年的文物,终于有机会完整地呈现在人们眼前,被重新命名为“皿天全方罍”。罍,是古代用来盛酒的大型礼器,经常被用在王公贵族的宴会中,不过由于青铜罍诞生于商周,而止于战国时期,流行的时间短,因此数量稀少,十分罕见。这件皿天全方罍,是商周时期方罍中最大的一件,堪称“方罍之王”。
