工笔画自唐代就奠定了其精致与细腻的画风,于两宋时期发展到极致。而今人对精致与细腻的理解,往往存在一定的偏颇,常常是将这一精美且经典的传统技法,简单地理解成一整套的制作程序,仿佛经过白描勾勒、重彩设色后的表现程式就视之为工笔画。其实,当代这种仅仅流连于表面形式的工笔花鸟画,从意境、造型到色彩,已与传统的审美精神渐行渐远,呈现了画面造型呆板、粗糙,色彩单调、艳俗,题材内容日趋雷同的趋势,从而失去它原本的笔情墨韵及典雅高贵的艺术气质。
