经过近十年的发展,京津冀地区已经形成了高速公路、铁路、港口、机场等相互交织的交通网络,使这一带的经济和社会交流越来越便利。 九十年代以来,京津冀地区在基础设施建设方面,连续摘取了三个全国第一。 高速公路的建设最引人注目。自中国的第一条高速公路——京津塘高速公路1993年9月开通以来,又建成了北京至石家庄、北京首都国际机场等高速公路,通车里程近500公里。目前还有石家庄至安阳、天津至唐山、北京至山海关、唐山至京唐港、北京至张家口等总里程达1000公里的高速公路正在兴建。 航空客运增长率一直居全国第一,航空港的建设速度也走在全国前列。北京首都国际机场改扩建工程正在进行,1999年竣工后,旅客年吞吐量将由现在的年1500万人次,增加到4000万人次,成为中国最大的航空
