Teaching objectives:
Language Knowledge Objective: Learn the words “headache, cough, stomachache”and be proficient in vocabulary and sentences related to illness “I have a...” “Here's a/some...for you .”
Language skills objectives: Through the creation of situations and dialogue performances, students can take time off, see a doctor, visit a patient, etc. in their daily lives.
Affect objectives:Love to speak English.
Learning strategies objectives:The students can study by themselves and discuss in groups.
Cultural awareness objectives:a preliminary understanding of the etiquette of visiting patients, in the real context of the appropriate expression of care for others.
Teaching process:
Activity One: Let’s review :
1. The teacher plays the music of “Hello, how are you?” and greet the students.
2. The teacher shows some pictures about sick things,and ask Ss to say some words or phrases about them.
Activity Two:Let’s learn and talk:
1. The teacher ask “How are you?”and then teach words“headache, cough, stomachache”, students learn them with the dialogues.
—What’s wrong with you?
—I have a headache. (cough, stomachache)
2.Ask the students: if you are ill, what should you do?
3.Show a picture about call the teacher for leave, make a dialogue“How to call the teacher for leave?”
4.Show the picture about see a doctor, talk about how to see a doctor in pairs.
Activity Three: Let’s learn and make:
1. Students write something on the get-well card, then learn the word “ get-well card”.
2. Show the picture about visit a patient
3. Students visit their friends with the card.
Activity Four:Let’s play games:
1. Find out the sick word。
2. Fill in the blanks。
Activity Five:Let’s act:
The class is divided into four large groups. Each group is divided into three groups responsible for the practical activities of making calls, seeing doctors and visiting patients.he big screen matches the picture of the three scenes(At home, In the doc's room, At the scene. )
Students get ready for the English practice in groups with the music, then have English practice.
Activity Six:Let’s sing the song :“Hello, how are you?”
